BAC PRO Dental Prosthesis Technician

The holder of the BAC PRO Dental Prosthetic Technician is a qualified technician involved in the design and manufacture of custom-made medical devices (CMMD) at various levels using traditional and/or digital methods.

He/she is able to:

• Design and manufacture a prosthetic element in the traditional way or using a digital system
• Organise the work in a traditional or digital production line
• Analyse health and environmental risks to participate in the implementation of preventive measures
• Be able to adapt to technological developments in materials, equipment, processes and techniques

The training course is organised into several skill modules, enabling step-by-step progression.

RNCP41063BC01 – Introduction to the professional environment of a dental prosthetics technician

- Communicate in writing and orally using appropriate technical vocabulary

- Organise work within a traditional or digital production line

- Analyse a situation in order to monitor the quality of production

- Analyse health and environmental risks to contribute to the implementation of preventive measures

RNCP41063BC02 – Designing a prosthetic component using a digital system

- Obtain usable digital files

- Prepare the virtual workspace

- Model a prosthetic component using anatomical and physiological parameters, following the software procedure

- Finalise the design

RNCP41063BC03 - Fabrication of a prosthetic component using traditional methods or a digital system

- Manage materials and equipment before, during and after manufacture

- Carry out a traditional manufacturing procedure

- Carry out an additive digital manufacturing process

- Carry out a visual and functional inspection to verify the conformity of the technical object

- Implement the risk prevention approach specific to the profession

Throughout the programme, learners receive personalised support with regular monitoring by the teaching team and progress reviews to tailor the learning experience to each individual’s needs.

The work placement also enables learners to develop professional skills in a real-world setting.

Skills are assessed progressively through role-plays, practical exercises, professional projects and assessments carried out throughout the course.

Our teaching methodology prioritises a practical, work-focused approach: case studies, role-plays, simulations and collaborative activities enable learning in conditions that closely resemble the real-world workplace.

Education Nationale certified teachers, Bac +3 trainers with significant experience in adult education, professional lecturers.

Assessments are organised throughout the course and at the end of the programme, in accordance with the qualification framework. Certification assessments may take the form of in-course assessments (CCF) and/or final examinations.

Support with exam preparation is provided throughout the course to help candidates succeed.

This qualification is awarded following validation by the academic examination board.

If a candidate fails to obtain the qualification, they retain the credits for the modules they have passed and may retake the outstanding examinations at a later date. The modules passed remain valid for 5 years.

Apprenticeship training: Training is available within a minimum of 48 hours, subject to validation of your application and the position in the company (diploma compliance), until the end of the 1st month in which the action begins.

Holders of the BAC PRO in Dental Prosthetics are qualified technicians who carry out their work independently and under the supervision of their line manager (company director, laboratory manager, etc.). They work in companies within the following sectors:
- the manufacture of bespoke medical devices such as dental prostheses;
- the design, manufacture and industrialisation of products or services for dental prosthetics professionals.

They may go on to study for a BTS in Dental Prosthetics.
